Our Back Cottage was renovated in May 2017 and accommodates up to 6 guests. So if you are wanting to enjoy a stay in the mountains with the convenience of being close to everything and not breaking your budget then Careel Cottages will not disappoint.

The Back Cottage consists of two bedrooms with a queen-sized bed in the main bedroom and a double in the other. We also have a brand new queen-size top quality sofa bed in the lounge so we can accommodate up to 6 guests.
There are two bathrooms.
A modern kitchen and dining area designed to mix the old cottage ambiance with the new, creating, we hope, a mountains experience that will make your stay that extra bit special.
If you want to cook at home everything is provided for you starting with the spacious Essa stone benchtop and bar. Cooking is a Miele Induction cooktop, here is a quick YouTube guide on how to operate it. And your oven is a Smeg. There is a dishwasher and if on a longer stay we have a combination washing machine dryer.
The lounge area has a cozy Rinnai real flame gas log fire which pumps out the heat to cope with the coldest of winter nights.
All the furniture is super comfortable including the outdoor setting and BBQ area in the new covered patio which is a great space to take in the afternoon sun with a glass of wine.
We have Foxtel which covers all your TV viewing plus a variety of popular APPS such as Netflix, Stan and Optus Sport.
We also have a record player and a collection of vinyl LPs for you to enjoy. They originate from our growing years…without giving away our ages! Some are from our parents, and some are far from perfect but if you are in the mood for some music then please enjoy.
When you book our Back Cottage you have a fully gated, secure and fully fenced property which is completely private.
All this just a short walk to the Cafes and restaurants of Katoomba and conveniently located to get to all the sights, walks and lookouts.

Very cosy and lovely stay! The location is a convenient 3 min drive from the main shops and close to the lookout points. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. Steve was also very helpful and responsive.

The house was really great! Very clean and lots of space. It can get a bit cold at night so they have provided plenty of heaters and blankets, so it's totally comfy. Very peace and quiet hidden in the trees.
The hosts were courteous and gave great direction so we could easily enter the property and close up behind us.
Would definitely recommend staying here!

Steve's place is spick-and-span, especially in the kitchen and bathrooms.
The fully equipped kitchen includes an electrical blender, four to five clean kitchen towers, good branded salt and pepper, and a new kitchen tower roll.
Each bed is accommodated with an electrical blanket and very clean linen and blankets. It could be the cleanest Airbnb place I have ever experienced!

It was a very warm and carefully prepared accommodation. I was most satisfied with the part where I could relax while looking at the large yard with the fireplace that warmed the house. The location is also close to Scenic World, so it's not hard to go back after lunch in the morning. I had a good stay and made a lot of pleasant memories. Thank you again.

My partner and I decided to take our dog away for night away and it was absolutely perfect! Steve's place has such a homey and comfortable feel, and we felt right at home straight away. On top of that, everything was super clean and the amenities were perfect.

Steve's place was great. I was staying there for the ultramarathon weekend, and the location was perfect. It was close to the town centre. The house faced away from the road, so it was quiet and peaceful. The house was clean, tidy and toasty, which was great as the weekend was freezing in the mountains. It was one of the best places I have stayed in the mountains. It's worth it, and I will be back again.

Pretty beautiful home and so close to everything you could want at the Blue Mountains. Renovations just made our stay more comfortable and excellent value for money as well!

Lovely and excellent value stay in Katoomba, which is so handy for blue mountains hikes, scenic world, etc. Electric blankets for all the beds for the cooler evenings were a great touch! We loved our stay here and wished we weren't on such a whistle stop tour so were only here one night.

We loved this space and would definitely come back again. It's a perfect two bedroom really close to the town of Katoomba. Steve got in touch to offer us early check in which was very much appreciated and pretty rare in my experience. We were traveling with a toddler and a dog so that kind of flexibility was fantastic. The house is very cosy and has lots of ways to keep it warm, heaters stoves etc giving it a very warm feeling.

Beautiful place to stay, within walking distance of the lovely little town centre. The place itself was immaculate and
The extras provided were fab, twinnings tea bags, coffee pods, salt/pepper/oil/some milk.
4mins drive from scenic world. Steve gave recommendations and the basil nut in town was fab for food.
TV was perfect for the kiddos with Netflix.
Easy check in and check out. Steve was super responsive with messages and I would highly recommend this place.

It's great when you get what you are sold, even better when it exceeds expectations. The cottage did both. And we loved the selection of old vinyl records (young generations may need to look this up) and the sound system rolling back the years and introducing a different level of charm. Fireplace is awesome and everything was great.

Fantastic stay! We came from America to visit the Blue Mountains and loved how close to stores and a variety of restaurants this place was. Back Cottage is a lovely place to stay. It is spacious and has everything you need. It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms which worked well for us. We enjoyed the outside space with the barbecue and would have gladly stayed longer. Careel cottages are in a good location, a 10 minute (uphill) walk into Katoomba centre or a walk through a beautiful meadow behind towards Scenic World and Prince Henry Cliff walk. We would very much recommend a stay here and would book again if we come back to the Blue Mountains.

Excellent place for a family holiday!! Careel Cottages met all our expectations!! Friendly hosts with great communication. Had a hassle free check-in and checkout.
It's tastefully decorated and has a homely vibe. Quite spacious and located in a peaceful area. It has a huge and green backyard, that's visited by beautiful birds.
It has all the required amenities for a comfortable stay including a full modern kitchen and laundry.
Not to forget the mini library and record collection. Lots of blankets and heating options for a cold day!!
We also used the extended dining area for office work.
Special thanks to the hosts for keeping chocolates and a high chair for our kid, which was indeed a lovely gesture.
Highly recommended.

We had a great stay at Careel cottages. We were in Katoomba on a canyoning trip and would happily stay again at the Careel cottages. The easy and comprehensive instructions made check in a breeze and the fireplaces in each cabin made for a warm and cozy stay. There are plenty of blankets, modern and updated furnishings and fittings and everything was extremely clean.
We could walk easily to mountain culture brewery for some post canyoning beers and the back cottage is WAY bigger than it looks in photos which meant we could all gather together in the back cottage comfortably despite being a group across both cottages.
Additional benefits are the outdoor clothesline where we could hang out wet gear and the nice outdoor settings which we didn't get to use because it was cold weather, but would be nice on a warmer day.
You will not be disappointed if you choose these cottages.

What a great little place Careel Cottage is. We stayed in the back cottage which is a fabulous space with a great design. It’s super comfortable and the heating is A1 and the gas fire place is amazing. The new induction cooktop won my husband over and the fenced back yard was great for Marley. We stayed in and cooked up a storm. It’s definitely big enough for 2 couples with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We loved everything about Careel Cottage and will definitely return.

This cottage is located in a quiet street opposite a beautiful park but only 5 minutes walk to town. You can enjoy the space with friends/family and your pups. The cottage is well thought out and has everything you need, with the added bonus of a beautiful gas fire and record player. Service provided by the owners is excellent.

Nice cosy accommodation for families. Clear instructions from the host. The host was responsive to messages and was able to communicate through chat to amend our date of booking when we had a change of plan. Was able to walk from the accommodation to Katoomba Street where the restaurants are. It takes 30min to walk to Katoomba Falls which is a good workout in the morning. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the back cottage. Visited Careel Cottages during the cold season and my friends and I were happy with the amenities provided. I would say that the owner has made good efforts for the house to feel like a home away from home: there were books, vinyl records, and a fully equipped kitchen which made it so convenient for us to cook. We also loved the fireplace and overall cleanliness of the hse. Would totally recommend this location to stay when in Katoomba!

On arrival we felt immediately at home and once the fabulous heating went on it was truly warm and cosy. We had my 95 year old mum with us and she found it easy to navigate inside the house and appreciated how warm it was on a particularly cold couple of mountain days. We all four felt very comfortable checking in for our second stay at Careel Cottages. Roomy lounge, kitchen and dining areas perfect for us and including our young adults and grandchild when they visited for a meal. Having two modern full bathrooms for two couples is an added bonus. Well-equipped kitchen and ample supplies for cold weather. A little care needed in negotiating the driveway past the Front Cottage.

Very easy to get in and out of town, around to the magnificent scenery and iconic landmarks with just enough time to take in coffee, cake and food a plenty in the town and around and about. My mum and I stayed in the back cottage along with my dog Rosie. The house is clean and spacious and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. There are plenty of blankets and great heating. The beds are comfortable and the area is really quiet. The backyard is perfect for a dog with a fence and gate, and very peaceful with lovely trees all around and birds singing. There is a beautiful park and walking track just across the road. It's a 2-minute drive to the centre of Katoomba, probably a 10 minute a walk if you'd like some up-hill exercise (!!) We would definitely stay again, thank you for having us =)))

Steve’s Back Cottage is well equipped and spacious. The heating facilities in all rooms are all good enough to keep us warm in the Blue Mountains area.

Katoomba Short Stay
Property had everything we needed and more. Steve and Sharon have really set this place up nicely. Fenced area for our puppy, plus all amenities that we needed. Relatively short (but uphill) walk to the Main Street of Katoomba, or a 2 minute drive. We could not be happier with the place itself, and the location. We will certainly be looking at this place on our next trip up to the Blue Mountains.

Only a brief stay but would like to have stayed longer as it was so homely. Would definitely recommend. Would also recommend getting up to view the 3 Sisters at sunrise.

Location of Careel Cottages is really great. Its modern design gives the coziness. I liked there are 2 sofas with one of them is convertible sofa bed to accommodate 6 of us without talking away the comfort of the living room. The kitchen is well equipped with everything for a simple cooking when we don’t feel like dining out. The instant heaters really help in the morning as it was still quite cold. We enjoyed a walk at the little lake opposite the cottage in one of the evenings. It gave a very peaceful feeling with the great sunset. Overall, my family had a great experience staying at the cottage. Everyone including our teenage children enjoyed staying at the cottage. Thanks to Steve and Sharon for their responsiveness on my emails. Oh, almost forgot to mention that the complementary container of candies and chocolates in the fridge makes my children happy too. Thank you 😄

Steves place is a great home from home. It was super quiet. Lovely and warm and very spacious. All the small touches are very thoughtful. It is as described and close to local shops and attractions. Happy to recommend.

Careel Back Cottage is spacious, clean and fresh and is well-appointed. Steve and Sharon make bookings straightforward and simple with their prompt and clear communications. We love staying here, with its close proximity to walk into town for entertainment. The efficient gas fire heats the place in a jiffy on your return, and the beds are comfortable and warm for a good night’s sleep. No complaints from us! Thank you Steve and Sharon.

Stunning Cottage in a perfect location. The town was just a few minutes away. When we first arrived, we were given clear instructions for checking in. The cottage had a beautiful fireplace that warmed the place right up. All essential amenities were provided. The beds had electric blankets which was a welcome extra touch due to it being so cold up at the Blue Mountains.
Definitely recommend staying here and when we are next up at the Blue Mountains we will return to stay here every time.

We have recently stayed in the Back Cottage. This is our 2nd time staying here and it didn’t disappoint. Steve is great at communicating and is a great host. The cottage is warm and comfortable with everything you need included. It is a very quiet and private place to stay. When we return to Katoomba, or if family and friends are looking for a place to stay, we will definitely recommend Careel Cottage.

Hi, guys! What can I say about Careel ‘Back’ Cottage…maybe I should start with the ease and readiness of Steve’s communication? The spot on directions and explanations (idiot guest notwithstanding!) The cleanliness, beautifully maintained accommodation? Maybe the super comfy beds and really well equipped kitchen? The cozy comfort? Great location?
Whichever point of fact is important to you when you consider booking….Careel Cottages ticks all the boxes!

We had a great stay! The location was excellent and walkable to the town centre. There was also a handy park/lake opposite - ideal for our dog. The house was well appointed and very comfortable. The cosy fireplace was also a fantastic addition. We highly recommend this stay.

We stayed in the back cottage with our three small children- affectionately known by them as our “little blue house in the mountains”. Communication with the owner was easy, he was always quick and willing to answer any of our questions pre arrival. The cottage was lovely and clean, and contained everything we needed for our stay, and more. There were heaters and blankets galore! Winter in the blue mountains is colddddd, but we were all snug as a bug in this cute little cottage. Thankyou for a wonderful stay Steve and Sharon, we would happily revisit, and recommend your place to others.

We really enjoyed our stay, it was so clean and tidy and had plenty of heating options which was so good for our winter stay, loved the gas fireplace! Location was also very convenient, close to shops and bushwalks. The hosts were very generous with information on walks around the area and things to do! Would recommend this place for visitors to Katoomba.

Beautiful homely cottage with wonderful heating. Close to the town centre, you could actually walk there instead of driving. Clean and tidy. So many beautiful warm blankets to snuggle up in front of the fireplace and watch TV. Excellent hosts and communication during Covid lockdowns. I would highly recommend this place to others and would definitely stay there again…

Thanks for a wonderful stay: the Back Cottage was spacious, comfortable and cosy and the yard was wonderful for our toddler and dog to run around. The location was great - nice and close to town with an easy dog walk just across the road, but quiet and safe. It’s often hard to find a lovely and secure pet-friendly (and child-friendly!) space - the Back Cottage was just perfect.

We really enjoyed our stay at Blue Mountains the cottage was so warm and cosy with everything we needed. It was located within walking distance to the shops and restaurants. We brought our fur baby, so it was fantastic there was a fully enclosed fence to keep him safe. Loved our stay would return again.

Just stayed at Steve's cottage for the weekend and it was an amazing one! If you are looking for a cosy place to stay, the
cottage is exactly what you need. Large open space with plenty of room to hangout. We loved having the fire on whilst
spinning some vinyl on the record player. There is everything you need and the place is curated in every single detail. After
a long day adventuring coming back to the cottage to enjoy a glass of red and a movie is a great way to enjoy all that the
mountains have to offer. Warm, modern and perfectly located near the town center. Steve was super helpful and the place
was spotless. Cannot wait to stay at the cottage again soon! Highly recommended.

This time explored more world class sites and took a walk around the Gully just out the front of the property, which has cultural and historical significance to indigenous communities. We always love to binge movies with the kids and the hosts, Steve and Sharon are very accomodating to make every stay comfortable. Highly recommend.

Careel Cottages is a lovely place to stay, and the Back Cottage was perfect for me. I especially liked the natural light in the dining/kitchen area in the morning, the gas fireplace in the living room, the fenced yard for dogs, and the native birds who visited the garden. I hope to return again soon.

The location of this beauty was amazing... Quiet, peaceful and close to the main town has this cottage getting a 5 star rating!! All communication was responded quickly, check in was seamless and all photos were everything you can hope for. Oh and the Gas Fire ... this truly heated up the cottage quickly what a fantastic addition to this homely little cottage.
If you are planning a stay in the area I would recommend this for couples , families OR group of friends!

A fantastic home to enjoy the Blue Mountains. Close to cliff top walks and also the restaurants and shops. Really comfy beds, excellent facilities and incredible gas fire that heats up the whole cottage. Next time we will stay longer!!!

We had a great time staying here. Travelled as a family of 6 (4 young kids), the place was a perfect retreat for us to relax. We spent time exploring local walks and the town and then returned to enjoy watching a movie and reading books around the lovely gas fire. The couches in the lounge room are really comfy! The kitchen is well equipped and allowed me to cook meals with ease, whilst the open plan layout meant I could keep an eye on the kids. The place was very clean and all appliances etc. were in good working order. Highly recommended and will hopefully stay here again in the future. Thank you!

The house is absolutely gorgeous and we enjoyed our stay. Great location as it was really close to the Katoomba town and the Three Sisters. It is also very handy for guests with dogs as it’s close to a dog park. Highly recommended!

Steve’s place in Katoomba was perfect for our quick stay. The home itself was impeccable, and we enjoyed it thoroughly. The rooms were comfortable and the bathrooms were spotless. Loved the fireplace and view in the morning, patio in the afternoon, and the vinyls were a hit with our group any time of day. Perfectly close to downtown, we had a great time all around.

Steve was very responsive even with the time zone difference. He was so accommodating with our check in. The place is within walking distance to shops, cafes, and grocery store. We enjoyed pick up groceries and grilling out. Heaters in all rooms made everything toasty warm on chilly mornings. Perfect place to relax after long flights from USA.
